Original title: De virtuele cultuurbezoeker
More and more Dutch people are using the Internet for
an increasing number of different applications. A great deal of information
on art and culture is also available in digital form. How many Dutch people
make use of this digitised culture, and what kind of people are they? This
publication provides an insight into the size and profile of the 'digital
public', their experiences and their needs.
To investigate the level of cultural interest via the Internet, we draw a
distinction between interest in cultural heritage, the arts and media and
libraries. For each cultural sector, the study looks at the extent to which
the Dutch use the Internet to consult and disseminate information, for
communication, for entertainment or to increase their knowledge, as well as
for ordering and paying for cultural products and services.
