Some neighbourhoods have a higher standing than others. How that standing is determined, and how it can change over time, are the subject of this study. The following questions are addressed:
Where are the most essential changes taking place at present?
Where will the most essential changes - most likely - take place in the future?
Which factors are responsible for these changes?
To what extent is there a relationship between change in social status and the degree of decay and (lack of) social safety?
To what extent is there a relationship between changes in social status and the level of services?
The answers to these questions can play a role in the current debate on neighbourhood decay and regeneration.
