Original title: Rapportage ouderen 1998.
The Report on the Elderly 1998 (Rapportage ouderen 1998) describes various aspects of the life situation of the elderly: labour market position, financial situation, housing conditions, health status and use of care services. Extensive attention is also devoted to coping with the consequences of psychological disorders, such as depression and dementia. Social participation is also an important aspect, and the report describes the extent to which older people are active in areas such as voluntary work or informal care, as well as the obstacles they experience in this regard. Finally, it considers elderly members of ethnic minorities, whose housing situation, health status and use of care is compared with that of their indigenous peers. The Report on Elderly 1998 is the fourth in the series of reports on the elderly produced by the Netherlands Institute for Social Research/SCP at the request of the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport.
