The City Street

The city street; the public space in perspective (De stad op straat; de openbare ruimte in perspectief) by the Netherlands Institute for Social Research/SCP is intended to contribute to the formation of new ideas about the public space and the future of urban societies. It presents a collection of essays on the urban public space from a large number of scientific disciplines. The following authors contributed to the collection: Prof. R.W. Boomkens (cultural philosopher, University of Amsterdam and The Hague University), Dr. J.P.L. Burgers (sociologist, Erasmus University Rotterdam), Dr. J.J.M. Hemel (town planner, National Land Use Planning Agency), Prof. W. Konijnenbelt (lawyer, Council of State), Prof. A.M.J. Kreukels (town planner, Utrecht University), E.C. van Uum (town planner, National Land Use Planning Agency), Dr. M.F. Wagenaar (historical geographer, University of Amsterdam), Dr. H.C. van der Wouden (political scientist, Netherlands Institute for Social Research/SCP and editor of the collection). Recurrent themes include mobility, post-industrial urban landscapes, lifestyles and dual citizenship.
