Original title: Armoedemonitor 2000.

The Poverty Monitor 2000 (Armoedemonitor 2000) contains the most up-to-date figures on poverty in the Netherlands. The data were collected and analysed by the Netherlands Institute for Social Research/SCP and Statistics Netherlands (CBS).

The extent of and trends in poverty are mapped out on the basis of income level, duration of poverty, assets and fixed costs.

Attention is also devoted to the dynamics of poverty: some households live permanently below the poverty line, while others are poor just once or alternate between being poor and not poor.
A number of particular topics receive extensive attention, such as cross-generational poverty, concentrations of poverty in specific areas, the scope for 'social activation' in poor households and the effect of the policy on poverty that has been pursued in recent years.
