Original title: Meedoen met beperkingen.
There are approximately 1.7 million people with
physical disabilities in the Netherlands. This seventh Report on the
Disabled provides an insight into their participation in society and
their living conditions, and compares these with people without
disabilities. Topics covered include participation in paid employment;
social participation; participation in education; financial position;
housing situation; take-up of care and use of mobility aids.
People with severe disabilities not only participate in the labour market
less than people without disabilities, but their social participation, such
as visiting museums, the theatre or cinema, is also lower. The differences
in participation between people with and without disabilities did not reduce
between 1995 and 2003.
Joining in with limitations is the seventh in the series of reports
on the disabled published by the Netherlands Institute for Social
Research/SCP at the request of the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and
Sport.
