The Netherlands Institute for Social Research / SCP uses a lot of surveys of the Dutch population, and sometimes also of the population of other countries. The most important datasupplier is Statistics Netherlands (CBS). Another main datasupplier is DANS (Data Archiving and Networked Services). Other data come from departments, universities, etc.
The SCP has, by itself or in conjunction with other institutions, performed surveys on a number of terrains. In the Time use survey (TUS) the spending of time since 1975 is observed. In the general Amenities and Social Services Utilization Survey data are gathered about the use of hospitals, old-people's homes, education, legal aid, domiciliary care, nurseries, museums, pop music and sports. The first survey about these subjects dates from 1979. Other surveys have subjects like: cultural changes in the Netherlands, the social position and minorities' use of facilities, the living situation of the elderly in nursing-homes and the pupil's world.
