Health
For many people, health is the most important thing in their lives. This is apparent from long-term research carried out by SCP.
Health status
SCP describes the health status of the Dutch population in its
report The Social
State of the Netherlands,. Specific groups are targeted in
individual reports, for example women in the Emancipation Monitor
(Emancipatiemonitor) and
the elderly in the Elderly Policy Monitor.
Life situation
SCP also produces regular reports on the life situation of people
with an impaired health status. The theme of these reports is the extent to
which people with physical or mental impairments make use of formal and
informal care provisions. In addition, SCP devotes limited attention to
habits that are harmful to health, such as smoking and alcohol
consumption.
Research at SCP
Health is a research topic of the Care
research group. You will also find information here about current projects
and recent publications. At present, the Care research group is exploring
what the notion 'health' means to different people and what people do to
improve their own health. The research carried out by the Emancipation,
Youth & Family research group focuses specifically on the health
status of women and non-Western ethnic minorities.
