Informal care

Informal care entails providing help to sick people in one's immediate setting. However, this is not something that is easy for everyone to do. There is also not always enough (professional) care available at the right time. Help by and support for informal carers is therefore of great importance.

Research programme
In 2006 SCP launched an informal care research programme, following on from a study in 2001. The programme explores informal care from different perspectives: what is the current status; how do informal carers themselves experience the care they provide; when do they call for help; and how will informal care develop in the future? Informal care also crops up in other SCP studies, for example in research on the elderly and people with disabilities.

Research at SCP
The Care research group carries out the research on informal care. You will also find information here on current projects and recent publications. The Care research group carries out forward studies and compiles forecasts in collaboration with the Public Services Sector research group.
